Smaller bridges are being damaged in Laois by traffic, a councillor has claimed.

Cllr John King, Fine Gael, raised the issue at a recent meeting with Laois County Council.

He tabled a motion calling on the local authorit to repair the bridge at Templequaine, Clonmeen, Errill because it’s been damaged by large volume of traffic.

“It’s an ongoing issue with all the small bridges,” said Cllr King.

Edmond Kenny, District Engineer,  told Cllr King that the Errill bridge would have to be cleared of vegetation for further inspection. He said Cllr King would be updated on the condition of the bridge following the inspection.

The matter was raised at the April Borris-in-Ossory Moutmellick Municipal District meeting.
