Aoife Tobin - Portlaoise

The death took place on Wednesdya, May 24 of Aoife Tobin of Ballycarnan, Co. Laois and formerly of Bray, Co. Wicklow.

Passed away peacefully at home, after a courageous battle, to the inexpressible grief of her partner Matt and her loving family.

Beloved daughter of John and the late Pauline. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her loving partner Matt, by John and Laura, cherished sisters Ashley, Emma, Shaunee and Laura, brother Seán, brothers-in-law Ciarán, Cameron and Chris, sister-in-law Elana, nephew Callum, niece Hollie, by Orla and Monica Thornton and her extended family and friends.

Her loved ones will celebrate Aoife’s life on Saturday, May 27, at 10.30am in Colliers Funeral Home, Old Connaught Avenue, Bray with burial afterwards in Shanganagh Cemetery. No flowers please. Donations, if desired, to Laois Hospice or Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin. For those who are unable to attend, the service may also be viewed on the following LINK.

Sarah 'Babs' Doody - Portlaoise

The death took place on Wednesday, May 24 of Sarah (Babs) Doody (née Carroll), Ridge Rd., Portlaoise, Laois

Peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the exceptional and tender care of her second family at St Vincents Hospital Mountmellick.

Predeceased by her husband Andy. Dearly loved mother to Carol and Gerard. Cherished grandmother to Eimhin, Eoghan, Aisling. Phillip, Elaine and Eimear. Great-grandmother to Robyn and Ada.. Deeply regretted by her loving family, sister Kathleen Moore, son in law Michael, daughter in law Bernie, cousins, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Keegans funeral home on Thursday evening from 6.30pm till 8pm. With rosary at 7.30pm. Removal on Friday to SS Peter and Paul's Church for 12 noon requiem mass. it may be viewed on https://www.portlaoiseparish.ie/webcam/. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul's Church, Portlaoise.

Richard Byrne - Portlaoise

The death took place on Monday, May 22 of Richard (Dickie) Byrne, Rathleague, Portlaoise.

Peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his sister Ellie. Beloved husband of Jane and cherished father to Irene. Loving grandfather to Caoimhe and Thomas. Deeply regretted by his loving family, son in law Tommy, sister in law Mary, nieces, relatives and extended family.

Reposing at his residence from 2 pm on Wednesday, until removal at 6.30 pm to arrive at St Peter's Church at 7 pm. Funeral service will take place at 3 pm on Thursday with burial in adjoining churchyard. 

Caleb Powell - Ballybrittas

The death took place on Monday, May 22 of Caleb Powell, Ballybrittas, Laois / formerly of Nenagh, Tipperary.

Cherished husband of Storm, wonderful father of Bobby, Barbara, Andrew, Anna and Simon. Reunited with beloved son Stephen. Adoring Pa to Ellie and Polly, Jemima and Willa, Stevie and Holly. Greatly missed by his brothers Robert and David, sisters Mary and Carol, son-in-law MacDara, daughters-in-law Juliet and Renata, extended family and friends.

Funeral Mass in St John's Church, Killenard, County Laois (eircode R32 VW77) at 12 noon on Thursday 25th followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

The family would like to thank you for your help and understanding at this sad and difficult time.

Will Sherlock - Eyne

The death took place on Monday, May 22 of William (Will) Sherlock, Eyne, Portlaoise, Laois (R32WNR1). Will Sherlock, Eyne, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, died peacefully on 22nd May 2023, in the loving care of the staff at St Brigid's Hospice The Curragh surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his father Mick, Uncle Billy and sister-in-law Brenda.

Beloved husband of Helen and devoted father of Ella, Billy, and Leah. Much loved son of Ann, Brother of John, Patrick, Michael, Roseann and Mark. He will be sadly missed by his Aunt Bridie, sisters-in-law Louise, Miriam, Roisin & Una, brothers-in-law Gearóid, Des & Seamus, father and mother in law, Michael and Teresa, nieces & nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends including those in Portlaoise Rugby Club & The Irish Prison Service.

Reposing in his home on Wednesday from 5pm. Recital of the Rosary at 7.30pm. Funeral arriving to Church of The Assumption, The Heath, on Thursday for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial after in the adjoining cemetery. House private on Thursday morning pleases.

Paraic Cummins - Portlaoise

The death took place on Saturday, May 20 of Paraic Cummins, Limetree Avenue, Kilminchy, Portlaoise, Laois / Lullymore, Kildare

Peacefully at St James Hospital. After a short illness. Son of the recently deceased Margaret Cummins. Predeceased by his sister Maddie. Dearly loved husband to Linda. Cherished father to Sarah and Conor. Deeply regretted by his father John, brother Sean, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, cousins and a large circle of friends and neighbours.

Family flowers only, donations, if desired, to St James Hospital Foundation for the End of Life Initiative.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Michael Delaney - Crettyard

The death took place on Sunday, May 21 of Michael Delaney, Newtown Bog, Crettyard, Co. Laois.

Passed away peacefully at home in the company of his loving family.

Father of the late James. Michael will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Patricia, daughters Bernadette, Karen, Ann and Deirdre, sisters Helena and Julia, sons-in-law Peter, James, Eamonn and Frank, brother-in-law Sammy, his adored grandchildren Mike, Callum, Matthew, Evana, Noel, Jim, Luke and Ava, Mike's wife Kat and Callum's wife Georgia, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his home (Eircode R93 XP48) on Tuesday (23rd May) from 4pm with Vigil Prayers and Rosary at 8pm. Funeral cortege arriving at St. Abban's Church, Doonane, on Wednesday for Requiem Mass at 12 noon followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. House private on Wednesday morning, please.

Rachel Hayes - Portlaoise

The death took place on Sunday, May 21 of Rachel (Frances) late of Larchvale, Moneygall,Dublin and Portlaoise.

Peacefully, in the care of Droimnin Nursing Home, Stradbally, Co. Laois. Deeply regretted by her sisters Iris Ruddock (Carlow) Hilda Colbourne (Birr) and Carmel Birney (Mountrath), sons Peter and Duncan and family, brother in law Raymond, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing in Donovan's Funeral Home, Moneygall (E53XR29) on Tuesday evening from 7oc to 8 oc followed by removal to Templeharry Church arriving at 8 30 oc. Funeral service on Wednesday at 2 oc, burial afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.
