Pedestrian seriously injured in collision with tractor in the Midlands

The road has been closed following the collision

A man has been seriously injured after being struck by a tractor in the Midlands this evening. 

Gardaí in Offaly are currently at the scene of the serious road traffic collision that occurred at Cappincur, Tullamore shortly before 6pm.

A male pedestrian, aged in his 30s, was seriously injured in a collision involving a tractor. The pedestrian was removed from the scene to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore (MHRT) in a serious condition.  

The male driver, aged in his 80s, of the tractor was uninjured. He was treated for shock at the scene.

The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are conducting a technical examination of the scene.

Gardai said investigations are ongoing.
