Laois County Council County Hall in Portlaoise.
Planned industrial action at councils around the country including Laois has been deferred.
Fórsa, the union representing civil servants among others, had written to Laois Chief Executive John Mulholland giving notice of industrial action last week.
They were taking the action due to an ongoing dispute with the Local Government Management Agency (LGMA) over what Fórsa say is their refusal to establish a job evaluation scheme.
The industrial action was to begin with an “indefinite ban on engagement on all political representations (verbal and written)” from Wednesday, June 21.
However, the trade union confirmed that it will now defer the action.
“The employer and union have committed to engaging meaningfully and constructively to resolve this issue over the coming weeks,” Fórsa confirmed on social media.
