Woman disqualified for not having road tax in Portlaoise

Man remanded on €35,000 Laois drugs charge

A woman was banned from driving for not having tax on her car. 

Helen McCormack, 39, with an address at 4 Rutland Terrace, Carlow was stopped at St Brigid’s Place, Portlaoise on August 31, 2022. 

Garda Paul Kelly said the woman  was driving a 131 LH registered black VW Jetta when she was stopped. The tax was out by over two months. A fine was issued but never paid. The woman has 11 previous convictions, all road traffic related, the court was told. 

Judge Andrew Cody fined the woman €500 and disqualified her from driving for one year.
