Missing person Gavin Rowan from Athy, Kildare
An extensive search has begun in Laois for a missing Kildare man.
Gavin Rowan, 40, from Athy was reported missing from that town on Friday, July 7.
Information that came in following a public Garda appeal has led to the search near Emo in Laois.
A vehicle was found in the area which is confirmed to be the black VW Passat car Gardaí said he may have been travelling in after going missing.
The search began on Wednesday evening, July 12 with multiple Gardaí searching into the night. It continued into Thursday, with Laois Gardaí saying that any resources necessary will be used, including a helicopter.
The search is understood cover challenging terrain including bog and forest. The area is also located off the old Dublin road between Emo and Ballybrittas near junction 15 of the M7 motorway.
The search began on Wednesday evening, July 12, five days after Mr Rowan was reported missing.
Laois Gardaí say that despite the search, they are still anxious to hear from anyone with any information on Gavin Rowan's whereabouts.
"We are grateful for the public assistance and would appreciate any more information someone might have".
The missing man is described as being 6’ 0” and of a large build. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
