Retention permission sought to transform Laois barn into hospitality area

A Laois farm turned into a hospitality business is planning a big extension to their facilities, in the Electric Picnic village.

Planning permission has being sought to retain the conversion of a Stradbally barn into a glamping style hospitality area.

The retention is for the Sir Hurt Entertainment Barn, part of the glamping facilities at Fitz of Inch in Stradbally.

Applicant Michael Fitzpatrick is also seeking full planning permission to renovate and upgrade the barn.

He also seeks permisison to build adjoining guest accommodation with some 18 ensuite bedrooms, as well as a car park, lighting, waste water treatment system and associated site works. An outhouse is to be demolished.

Fitz Of Inch (formerly Inch House) describes itself as "an exclusive adults-only retreat" offering self-catering accommodation in its 17th-century house, glamping tents, or guest rooms.

"We shine as a boutique luxury property, offering unparalleled experiences to our discerning adult guests. Whether you're planning a group gathering, a bachelorette or stag weekend, or a memorable vacation, Inch House Ireland promises to deliver exceptional moments that will leave a lasting impression."

The application was returned as "incomplete" to the applicant by Laois County Council but it can be resubmitted.
