Clothes collections, cake sales, table quizzes, tractor runs are often the most common ways parents run to help pay the bills incurred by the schools their children attend.
A Laois school has come up with a novel way to raise funds that might has a recycling and possible enviornmentally friendly-spin off.
The Clough National School community is running a vehicle battery collection fundraiser in November. The parents have appealed for people to "drop any vehicle batteries you may have lying around to be recycled" to front entrance of Clough NS.
The drop off days are Friday, November 8am - 5pm and Saturday, November 18 from 8am to 12 noon.
"Proceeds raised for Clough NS parents council. All support greatly appreciated. Spread the word," says the school.
