Kerbing is needed in Castletown to alleviate flooding in the Gash area of the village.

So believes Cllr Conor Bergin, Independent, who raised the issue with council officials recently.

He called on Laois County Council to install additional kerbing on the L1620 at Pilgrim Hill to enhance drainage. He said it is a very busy road with a slope where one patch needs kerbing: “A little bit of kerbing would solve the issues".

Cllr Bergin was supported by Cllr Ollie Clooney.

Edmond Kenny, District Engineer, replied that the Council would arrange to meet Cllr Bergin at the site to examine the drainage issues.

The issue was highlighted at a recent meeting of the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District.
