Laois County Council's Chief Executive believes the Irish Farmer's Association election result reflects well on the reputation Laois farming.

“The election of Francie Gorman is an outstanding achievement for Francie himself, for his family and for his co workers and colleagues in Laois IFA,” said John Mulholland.

“It also represents a historic moment for Ballinakill and for Co Laois generally.

“Francie’s ascension to high office reflects extremely well on the farming community in Laois, its reputation for progressive and efficient agriculture and its renown in providing leaders with vision in the business of farming.

“I wish Francie every success over the next four years in what is a key representational and leadership role in food production on this island,” said the CEO.

Mr Gorman assumes office in January at the IFA AGM.
