Laois Sinn Féin held their annual Easter Commemoration in Killeshin on Sunday.

Local Election candidate Aaron Kelly was the main speaker at this year's event.

A parade to Killeshin Cemetery was led by a piper and colour party. It finished at the Padraig MacGamhna Memorial cross opposite Killeshin Church where speeches took place.

There was a wreath laying ceremony on behalf of the MacGamhna (Gaffney) family, the local Cumann branch and Laois Sinn Féin while the Proclamation of Ireland and Roll of Honor was read by the party's local election candidates.

The event was held in memory of Padraig MacGamhna who was one of Ireland's first TDs and an influential figure in the trade union.

Speaking after the event Mr Kelly said: "It was an honour to be the main speaker at the Laois Sinn Féin Easter Commemoration in Killeshin yesterday. A big thank you to all who participated and came to support.

"Let us honour the legacy of our forebearers, such as Padraig MacGamhna, by continuing to stand up for the Ireland that they dreamed of and the Ireland that we know is possible."
