TII considering safety measures at two Laois villages

The one way system and urban speed limit will need TII approval

A one way traffic system for Durrow and an urban speed limit for Arles are being considered by Transport Infrastructure Ireland. 

Both moves are under consideration by TII following consultation with officials from Laois County Council in relation to the national roads. 

Details of the proposals were included in a  roads report presented by Director of Services Simon Walton at the latest meeting of Laois County Council

“N80 Arles Village Traffic Management Scheme: Following various road safety concerns raised, it is agreed with TII to develop a Feasibility and Options. Report for the entire urban speed limit zone in Arles. A Topographical survey will be completed, to allow integrated design options to be generated,” the report stated.  

In relation to Durrow, the report revealed there are two items under consideration by TII.  

“N77 Durrow One-Way: Laois County Council has completed a Feasibility & Options Report. The Report supports the introduction of a one-way traffic management option for Durrow. Laois County Council awaits feedback from TII on the Report. 

N77 Pedestrian Crossing Kilkenny Road, Durrow: Feasibility & Options Report complete and submitted to TII. Laois County Council await TII direction. following their review of Feasibility & Options Report,” the report stated. 

Last Month members  of the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District approved the introduction of time limited parking in the centre of Durrow.
