Contractor sought to fix leaks at popular Laois sports hall

The roof repairs are expected to cost €200,000 and take a month to complete

Laois County Council is advertising for a contractor to fix the leaks at St Mary’s Hall in Portlaoise.

A tender issued on Monday, April 15 states that the contractor will have to be able to complete the works in a month from start to finish.

According to the documents the cost of the repairs could be as high as €200,000 excluding VAT.

The tender states that the roof of St Mary’s Sports Hall is leaking from at least five locations with the exact locations difficult to determine.

Hopeful contractors will be asked to set out their plans in a “detailed costed solution” for the hall. A minimum ten year warranty will be required for the work.

“St. Mary’s Hall is used for a range of activities and must remain in operation during the execution of the works. Tenderers will be required include in their tender response, their proposals for maintaining safe public access to the sports hall,” the tender documents state.

“A programme of works will also be required, demonstrating that the works can be completed within the contract period (1 month).

The area of the roof is approximately 850 sqm. Tendering contractors will be required to satisfy themselves regarding the area of the roof,” the documents explain.

Hopeful contractors will have until May 6 to apply for the job.
