An energy masterplan for Portarlington will be launched by the business community at an event in the local community centre next week.
Portarlington Business Association Sustainable Energy Community group (PBA SEC) will host the launch event in Portarlington Community Centre at 7pm on Thursday, May 23.
Secretary of PBA SEC, John Holland, said "we have been working with Tipperary Energy Agency on an Energy Master Plan for Portarlington, with €15,000 funding from Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) under the Sustainable Energy Community programme. The launch event will include a range of expert installers of heat pumps, solar panels, insulation etc.and attendees will have a chance to 'Ask the Experts' any questions they may on energy efficiency, retrofits, grant or loan funding etc."
The Energy Master Plan for the Laois/Offaly town will be presented by Tipperary Energy Agency who have developed the plan, which sets out a baseline for energy usage in Portarlington. It also sets out a 'register of opportunities' for ways that the community can reduce emissions and energy usage over time and details on a range of sample residential and non residential building audits which show how different buildings can be made more energy efficient and the supports available for all.
