ESB Networks attended the
Power has been restored in Portlaoise after a major and sudden electricity cut shut businesses and impacted many households on Monday.
Customers in Portlaoise town centre reported that electricity had returned by 12.45pm on Monday. Power was lost without warning at 11 am.
ESB confirmed that a fault had occurred resulting in 766 customers being left without power. Most of Main St and central parts of the town had now power on the day.
Many businesses lost trade due to the outages as they were forced shut down temporarily due to the loss of electricity.
ESB Networks said the fault occurred at 11.03am and was restored at 12.24pm
The Leinster Express / Laois Live has asked the ESB for a statement.
The power cut came at the start of a week which sees businesses and households in town centre being impacted by Laois County Council resurfacing works on Bridge St which impacts traffic through the town.
