Volunteers are being sought to help clean Electric Picnic sleeping bags so they can be donated to the homeless.
Portlaoise Action To Homelessness(PATH) volunteers collected the bags from the festival campsite in Stradbally on Monday.
PATH delivers food and essentials to homeless people in Laois and Dublin and has collected sleeping bags from the Electric Picnic for a number of years. The volunteers fill out forms which permit them access to the site once the campers leave.
This year they collected around 300 sleeping bags. These bags need to be cleaned and dried before they can be donated to the homeless.
“It's that time of year again we need your help!!! We have bags and bags of dirty sleeping bags unfortunately due to hazardous weather conditions on Monday our full salvage team were unable to gain access to the site but a few of our team got in. We collected about 300 sleeping bags and we need your help to wash them,” PATH wrote in an online post.
“We will be at Laois Shopping Centre on Thursday evening (22nd August) at 6pm (Penneys entrance). If you think you could take a small few sleeping bags to wash (3 or 4 is more than enough) please come along and take them,” they stated.
PATH are asking people to return the cleaned bags to the same location the following Thursday, August 29 at 6pm.
