Cable on ground.
Power has been lost in Portlaoise town centre after an electricity cable was snapped on Bridge Street.
Several premises lost electricity suddenly at noon on Tuesday, August 27.
Eyewitnesses said a cable became detached after a truck passed down the street.
An ESB cable was lying on the footpath after the power was lost.
The falling cable appears to have cracked the windscreen of a parked car.
Gardai arrived at the scene soon afterwards.
The ESB has been notified.
