The Electric Picnic Banter Group has presented cheques to two charities after their Guinness World Record attempt at this year's festival.

At this year's Electric Picnic, the Guinness World Record for the number of people taking part in Rock The Boat was smashed by Facebook fan group.

The challenge, which was backed and promoted by Electric Picnic, set out to raise funds for the Laois branch of the SOSAD Ireland suicide prevention charity.

On Tuesday 8 October, the group took to Facebook to thank everyone for the generous donations they received and to announce that they were able to present two fantastic charities with cheques.

The group said they were honoured to present SOSAD Laois and Suicide Or Survive with cheques following the outpouring of support for the challenge.

They also gave a special shoutout to Pipelife Ireland and DJ Box for their "incredibly generous contributions", adding that their "support made a huge impact".

The group said: "Your donations will make a real difference in the lives of many, and we couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey with us!"

The Electric Picnic Banter Facebook fan group broke the record set earlier this year in Derry with 1,888 participants.
