Children waiting on a school bus are being splashed by passing cars due to a dip in the road, a council meeting was told.
Fianna Fáil Cllr Padraig Fleming tabled a motion in relation to the problem in Graiguecullen.
He asked “That Laois County Council resolve the flooding on the road at footpath opposite Fruithill Court, Graiguecullen as when children are waiting for the school bus they are getting splashed with water by passing traffic.”
Cllr Fleming said “there is a dip in the road, it is not really visible when you look at it, basically water gathers there,” he explained.
In response, Senior Executive Engineer, Philip McVeigh said: “Laois County Council will arrange to have repair works carried out at this location as soon as possible.”
Independent Cllr Ben Brennan seconded the motion at the December meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.
