A Councillor called for repairs to a kerb near the Round Tower in Timahoe where one person has already suffered an injury.

Fine Gael Cllr Vivienne Phelan asked in a motion “that this Council make safe the road surface close to the kerb adjacent to the Round  Tower, Timahoe.”

She believes work is needed on “two little sections where the kerb meets the road” near the Round Tower.

“I know one person that has injured their ankle,” she revealed.

Cllr Phelan said the Round Tower is an attraction for the county and needs to be looked after.

“I think the least we can do is make it safe for pedestrians,” she said.

Senior Executive Engineer, Philip McVeigh, said “Laois County Council will arrange to meet with the Elected Member on site to review this.”

Fianna Fáil Cllr Paschal McEvoy seconded the motion at the December meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District
