A fundraising page has been set up in hopes of garnering donations for a graveyard extension, along with development works at St Mary's Church, in Wolfhill, Co Laois.
The initiative is off to a positive start as Emma Knowles, the lead organiser, shared that the Leech family, natives of Laois, have very kindly donated land in order to help with their plans.
Miss Knowles took to the fundraiser's page to urge the community to both take part, and donate, saying, "If anyone would like to volunteer to help with the work or offer any services this would also be greatly appreciated as this is a community project."
Funds now need to be raised for the church to build a new boundary wall, fix ongoing drainage issues, remove falling trees, and to put in new paths, along with general maintenance for the church and graveyard.

The GoFundMe is just the beginning, as fundraising events are set to be be organised by The Wolfhill Development Group.
"We hope all the parish will come together to help improve and maintain our church and graveyard," the organiser concluded.
St Mary's Church is of Roman Catholic descent, and is believed to have been constructed around 1860. The building is said to have been extensively renovated between 1979 and 1980, meaning it is seriously due for an upgrade.
A target of raising €30,000 has been set.
