Laois Civil Defence helped rescue two lost hikers in the Slieve Bloom Mountains today. 

Units from Portlaoise were called to the Slieve Blooms by South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association. 

“A busy day for a number of our volunteers today with two call outs. This afternoon we were activated by South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association to assist two hikers who had become lost on the Slieve Blooms,” the Civil Defence stated in a social media post. 

They said “two units responded from Portlaoise and located the walkers a short time later and brought them back down to safety.”

Laois Civil Defence regularly assists with incidents in the Slieve Bloom Mountains.
