A stone bridge near the five star Ballyfin Demesne hotel in Laois is to undergo €135,000 of repair work in 2025.

Skerry Bridge, Ballyfin is among a list of nine bridges to get funding from the Department of Transport, totalling €563,500.

The money was requested by Laois County Council, and is part of their €30 million budget for 2025 road repairs.

"In recent years, there have been several bridges which have required urgent, emergency action arising from severe weather events and vehicle collisions," the council stated when it announced the money in March as part of its 2025 Roadworks Scheme.

Ballyfin House recently won a Michelin Star.

The other bridges will receive smaller amounts of funding.

A bridge on the Regional road through Boleybeg, Spink is getting €126,000.

Kilnahown Bridge in Garryhinch, on the Offaly border will get €22,500. Beechmount Bridge in Rathdowney will get €45,000.
