Funeral details announced following tragic Laois crash

The funeral details of a young man who died in a car crash in Laois in the early hours of Thursday morning have been announced. 

Colm Lynch O’Sulllivan tragically lost his life in a single car collision on the R445 between Borris-in-Ossory and Roscrea at Ballaghmore at around 3.15am yesterday. 

Mr Lynch O’Sullivan, was in his early 20s and from Cloncourse, Ballaghmore. 

Local Cllr John King said the tragedy has cast a dark shadow over the community.   Cllr King said the family are “very well known and liked and very popular” and he would know the young man’s father and two brothers. Mr Lynch O’Sullivan’s father runs a garage in Roscrea, he revealed. 

“He was working with his father, helping out in the garage in Roscrea,” said Cllr King. He said the young man would have attended school in Ballaghmore.

Cllr King said the local community will now rally around the family in the wake of the tragedy. He expressed his sympathy to the family members. Cllr King visited the scene of the crash where he said flowers and tributes have been placed.  

Mr Lynch O’Sullivan's funeral notice states that he is pre-deceased by his sister Grace. Dearly loved son of Olive and Con. Sadly missed by his brothers Brendan and Tómas, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, niece, extended family and all his friends.

Mr Lynch O’Sullivan will be reposing in Tierney's Funeral Home, Roscrea (E53NY70) on Sunday evening from 4pm to 7pm. Removal from his residence Cloncourse on Monday morning at 10.30am arriving in St. Molua's Church, Ballaghmore (R32RC53) for Funeral Mass at 11am. 

He will be laid to rest afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
