Laois SPCA shared a message of a dog dead on the side of a road in Laois amid a heatwave
Laois SPCA took to social media to voice concern following the discovery of a dead dog who's cause of death is unknown.
A message was sent to the animal shelter that said: "Hi...there is a deceased brown medium sized cross type Labrador dog at the Luggacurran crossroads on the way to Ballylynan. I asked around and called to a few nobody could help. No collar. I can’t tell if the dog was hit by a car or maybe the heat was the cause. Thanks".
In an update, Laois SPCA said the dog is microchipped to the breeder who can’t remember who he sold the dog to."
Comments have rushed in from concerned locals, with one person writing:

"I just saw that a few minutes ago, thought it was a fox at first. Poor dog probably hit by a car as people always speeding on the straight before that cross and dangerously overtaking right on the cross!".
Another concerned local said: "Some terrible people out there. Thank you for the true kindness, I have no doubt he will now be shown in your care. RIP".
"Poor baba. Sweet dreams. I hope you knew love," another person said.
