Elaine Mullally contested the Laois constituency at the 2024 General Election..
Ireland is under attack from a tyrannical Irish Government, which is eroding democracy, but the battle against this 'tyranny' will be won by the 'true Irish', according to a Laois woman who has attempted to win a seat in the Dáil.
Speaking at the right-wing Donald Trump-linked Make Europe Great Again (MEGA) conference in Warsaw recently, Elaine Mullally outlined her views on problems facing Ireland, claiming emigration out of Ireland reminded her of the famine which killed millions of Irish in the 1840s.
"I'm here as a mother, a wife, an entrepreneur, an active member of my community, but above all as a concerned citizen of Ireland," said the Portarlington woman
"The country I was born into, grew up in, settle in and raise my family in is no longer the nation it once was. Our current Government has in an unbelievably short period of time altered the dynamics of our society and the very fabric of our morals beliefs and culture.
"If I don't stand up and speak out we risk losing what we hold dear forever. But people are beginning to listen. Like many of your nations represented here today, Ireland has fought tyranny before and won. But this time, tyranny does not attack under the banner of a foreign flag; it comes from within our government.
"Our own political leaders are seeking to erode democracy, our free speech, our national identity, our culture and our heritage. But just as we have done before, we, the true Irish, will win this battle," she said.
She also spoke about speaking at the Make Europe Great Again conference in Poland.
"To stand before you on such an international platform is not just an honour, it is deeply heartening. It demonstrates to me that Ireland has support from powerful voices across the world. We need that support and by simply being here today I hope to send a message back home that being part of an international community does not mean we must stand for just one agenda.
"There is a different type of support. One that values true Irish culture, morals and sovereignty. Thank you for standing with me and with Ireland," she said. MORE BELOW PICTURE.
She also revealed that her daughter has emigrated.
"On a personal note, my eldest daughter has already left these shores and I am unsure if she will return. There is a good chance my second child will do the same. While I support them to travel and explore new opportunities abroad, I fear that they may never be able to come back. This is reminiscent of the days of the great famine when people left Ireland not by choice but out of desperation because there was nothing left in our country for them.
"I love my family and my country and I will work tirelessly to turn Ireland back into a country where our children can return and afford to live," she said.
In 2024, Ms Mullally said she contested the General Election because she had become deeply disillusioned with the Irish political system. She received 2,438 votes but was not elected following a campaign which was focused on local issues.
The MEGA movement is linked to the Make America Great Again group that backs Donald Trump. It is also connected to CPAC a movement of conservative activists and officials from across the United States.
CPAC Hungary, was held in May 2022 in Budapest, Hungary where speakers included Hungary's far-right Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
She was a founder member of Independent Ireland but parted ways over a difference of views.
