Visiting restrictions imposed due to high levels of Covid-19 have now eased at Portlaoise Hospital
Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise said it can confirm that visiting restrictions have been lifted on Monday but mask wearing for visitors will continue until Wednesday, August 27.
“We would request that members of the public do not visit if they feel unwell or experience any respiratory symptoms. Our continued thanks for your support in preventing the spread of infection in the hospital,” the hospital said in a statement.
Last week the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise said it had a high number of patients with Covid-19, which appeared to be circulating in the community. As a result, visiting restrictions were implemented to help reduce the spread of the virus within the healthcare setting.
Visiting restrictions were put in place on all wards, with the exception of Maternity and Paediatrics on Friday, August 22 due to a high number of patients with Covid-19.
Visits on critical and compassionate grounds continued to be accommodated by contacting the Clinical Nurse Manager or Nurse in Charge of the relevant ward during the restrictions which have now eased.
