Tributes have been paid to a popular mother of two who passed away on Monday, August 25.
Portarlington resident Gràinne McEvoy, who was formerly from Bogtown, Cloneygowan, Co Offaly died following a short illness.
She had worked in Hummingbird Interiors in Portarlington, who posted a heartfelt tribute following her death. .

Gràinne was a huge asset to Hummingbird with her hard working ethic, her care and compassion for her colleagues and she was loved by all our customers
We are heartbroken for her two boys Aidan and Josh whom she adored. She spoke of them with so much love and everything she did was for them. Her parents, her sisters, brothers and extended family and friends you are all in our thoughts and prayers
Rest in peace Gràinne. You will be forever in our hearts. Gillian, Ronan and all your colleagues in Hummingbird”
Walsh Island Shamrocks also posted a tribute online.
“It is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of Grainne, beloved mother of our U15s player Josh.
On behalf of everyone at Walsh Island Shamrocks we send our heartfelt condolences to Josh and his family at this very difficult time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with them. May Grainne rest in peace,” they said.
Her death notice states that Gràinne died peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a short illness. Sadly missed by her loving sons Aidan and Josh, parents Joe and Maureen, sisters Sinead, Josephine and Fiona, brothers John and Colm, brothers-in-law John and Mark, sister-in-law Siobhan, the boys father Declan,nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family, neighbours and her many close friends.
She is reposing at her sister Josephine's residence Bogtown,Cloneygowan (eircode R35 KV76) on Tuesday(today) evening from 4pm with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Wednesday morning at 10:20am arriving St Mary's Church Raheen for Requiem Mass at 11am. Interment afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery. House Private on Wednesday Morning, Please.
