Homecoming honour for Supervet and other unsung heroes at Lovely Laois Festival

Prof Noel Fitzpatrick, Christy Cullen, Jack McDonald, Ger Thompson, PATH to be honoured at the Lovely Laois Homecoming Gala Dinner.

TV Supervet Professor Noel Fitzpatrick is among those to be honoured at the upcoming Lovely Laois Homecoming Festival Gala Dinner.

The Ballyfin native is a world-class orthopaedic neuro Veterinary Surgeon and managing director of Fitzpatrick Referrals which is based in The UK. He is also the director of a number of biotechnology companies linked to his practice.

Prof Fitzpatrick has received numerous awards all over the world for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of small animal veterinary medicine and surgery. He has been acknowledged as the creator of more than 40 new techniques in the field.

Noel and his team shot to fame via the hit TV series “The Supervet” on Channel 4.

He is a passionate advocate for his profession and, through his clinical and media work, aspires to positively influence and improve the world for animals.

Noel has delivered more than 1,000 lectures all around the world where he has been invited to attend as keynote speaker at both human and veterinary congresses.

He has been instrumental in bringing the concept of ‘One Medicine’ to the fore, where this is at the heart of Noel’s mission and the cornerstone of Humanimal Trust, the charity he has founded, the first of its kind.

Noel has been recognised by high-profile celebrities and royalty, including Megan Markle, who thanked him publicly for helping to save the life of her dog Guy, and consequently he was invited to attend the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle.

In addition, the professor is recognised in The Guinness Book of Records for his many achievements.

Noel has a keen interest in acting and music. He has appeared in episodes of Heartbeat, The Bill, Casualty and in movies such as The Devils Tattoo.

He is now enjoying playing guitar and has been taught and encouraged by none other than Bryan May from the supergroup Queen, who is a personal friend.

The Lovely Laois Homecoming Festival is delighted to welcome Noel home and to honour him along with four other deserving recipients from the county.

The Gala Dinner event will take place on Saturday, September 6, in The Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise and includes a four-course dinner followed by entertainment, dancing and lots of fun.

The Musketeers - Mick Foster, Billy Morrissey and TR Dallas, followed by dancing to Shawn Cuddy and Damian Bowe.

Trudi Lalor, who is the organiser of The Lovely Laois Homecoming Festival, will also perform as well as hosting the whole event.
