Clarification: Laois County Council votes of sympathy

Laois Live has been requested to clarify an article published online on Friday, October 3 with the headline Councillor objects to hearing votes of sympathy. The article referred to a discussion at the latest meeting of Laois County Council about votes of sympathy being given at the start of Council meetings. The headline inferred that Councillor Aisling Moran objected to the practice of votes of sympathy being offered to families of various people who were well known in their communities who died recently. Cllr Moran has asked to clarify that she was not objecting to votes of sympathy being offered but rather questioning the process and asked whether it went against the standing orders of the meeting.
