Laois County Council has agreed to carry out repairs to a damaged road near a GAA Club in Laois.

Fianna Fail Cllr Padraig Fleming requested the work during a recent Council meeting.

“It is after floods, half the road holds the water for a day or two,” he explained.

He tabled a motion asking:  “That Laois County Council to repair/ reinstate the damaged road surface close to St Joseph s GAA pitch at Milltown and the junction with the N80, as it's causing ponding and flooding during heavy rain”.

Senior Executive Engineer, Tom Drennan, said “Laois County Council will reinstate a section of this road with a view to resolving any pluvial flooding that has occurred at this location.”

Cllr Fleming said he was happy with the answer as the work would make the location safe.

The motion was seconded by Independent Cllr Aisling Moran at the monthly meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.
