The Active Retirement Association in Portlaoise have a busy run up to the Christmas period with lots of events planned over the next few weeks.
Tomorrow (Wednesday), the active retirees will undertake a club charity walk for the Heart Foundation. The walk will start from the Parish Centre at 3pm. If the weather conditions are not suitable other indoor activities will be arranged.
On Wednesday, November 19 there will be dancing with Maureen at the Parish Centre at 3pm. While on Wednesday, November 26 Christmas crafts special will take place.
Costing €1o per person, everyone will get to take home their own creation and all materials will be supplied.
Wednesday, December 3 is Activities Fun Day, while on Thursday, December 4 members will attend the 65 Kitchen Choir Christmas Show in the Dunamaise Theatre.
As the old cliche says, no rest for the wicked. On Friday, December 5 the association will have a coffee morning for our charity at the parish centre after Mass. Members are asked to support as both helpers and bakers are needed.
The annual fashion show will then take place on Wednesday, December 10 at the parish centre from 3pm. Both female and male models are needed to strut their stuff on the catwalk.
The club are still celebrating Trudy Nealon’s crowning as Google’s top ‘Silver Surfer.’
PRO, Peter O’Shea said the club are very proud of Trudy’s achievements.
“She has used her technical knowledge not only to her own advantage but also for the benefit of the Active Retirement Club Portlaoise.
“We are very fortunate to have someone like Trudy. We value her capabilities as she enhances our long established club.”
Peter added: “Nothing is too much trouble for our Trudy. You are a treasure, thanks a million.”
