The Leinster Express is delighted to announce that the 2025 Laois Yearbook will be hitting the shelves this week. The Yearbook looks back on a year of remarkable events, achievements, and unforgettable moments across the county.

One of the biggest moments of the year was Laois Rose Katelyn Cummins being crowned the International Rose of Tralee leaving the county beaming with pride. The Portlaoise based apprentice electrician, who lives in the Kilkenny countryside on a dairy farm in Ballyouskill, has been an outstanding ambassador for Laois.

There were plenty more feel-good moments throughout the year including Ballacolla woman Debbie Brophy’s victory in RTÉ’s Supergarden.

It was another busy year for the lads in the Timahoe Male Choir who launched their very first EP in February and also received the Community Wellbeing Initiative (Focused) Award at the prestigious IPB Pride of Place Awards in Limerick in November.
The social calendar was packed to the brim and one standout event was the first ever Lovely Laois Homecoming Festival organised by singer Trudi Lalor in September which was a huge success. From St Patrick’s Day parades to summer festivals, Culture Night and of course the Laois Live Well Expo, we had no shortage of vibrant photographs to share.

2025 was a year to remember in Laois sporting circles. The standout achievement came in August when the Laois Camogie team climbed the steps of the Hogan Stand as Premier Junior All-Ireland champions. Stephen Duff’s Laois Ladies team also came agonisingly close, narrowly missing out on the Intermediate All-Ireland title. Tommy Fitzgerald's hurlers were also beaten in the Joe McDonagh Cup final for the second year in a row, this time at the hands of Kildare.

Closer to home, Portarlington and Clough-Ballacolla continued their dominance of the Laois senior championships, claiming their fifth title in six years.
