A fantastic opportunity has emerged for filmmakers in Laois as a grant of €10,000 is now available which could help fund local film projects.
Applications have now opened for the Laois Short Film Bursary 2026 which offers an impressive €10,000 grant for filmmakers in Laois.
The grant aims to support the production of short drama or short documentary films.
The eligibility criteria for the grant requires that the film must be produced, directed or written by someone from Laois or who is resident in the county.

The project also must be filmed on location in Laois and completed by the end of this year.
The Laois Short Film Bursary was launched in July 2021 and is an excellent opportunity for homegrown talent to bring their stories to life on screen.
Any projects which are awarded the grant will be shown in a public screening once they are completed. The screening will be hosted locally by Laois Arts in collaboration with Dunamaise Arts Centre.
The closing date for applications is Friday, 27 February at 5pm.
