Minister Moran visiting the new Garda Station
Work on the refurbishment and extension of the Laois Offaly Garda headquarters in Portlaoise is on schedule and expected to be completed by April 2027.
Laois Councillors and TDs were given a briefing on the works when they visited Portlaoise Garda Station with Minister for State with responsibility for the OPW(Office of Public Works) Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran on Tuesday, March 31.

Although no media were invited, the Leinster Express/Laois Live has learned that Minister Moran met elected representatives and council officials at Áras an Chontae in Portlaoise for an update on ongoing issues following Storm Chandra.
The Minister, TDs and elected members were given a presentation by Laois County Council Director of Services, Simon Walton.

They then went to visit the ongoing works at the Laois Offaly Garda Headquarters in Portlaoise where they were joined by Laois Offaly Garda Chief Superintendent Anthony Lonergan and another briefing was given.
After the Garda Station visit, Councillors, TDs and Council officials traveled to Castletown before going on to visit Mountmellick where plans have been drawn up for flood defences.
