On Sunday, April 17 at 4pm at St Andrew’s Church of Ireland, the Square, Rathdowney, a plaque was unveiled in memory of Rathdowney native Thomas Prior, one of the founders of the Royal Dublin Society, and also founder of the Ossory Show.
The unveiling, which was performed by John Holohan of the the RDS, was followed by a short service at St Andrew’s Church.
The day also featured a talk on the life of Thomas Prior by Teddy Fennelly of Laois Heritage Society and Mr Holohan.

Thanks were extended to the National Commemorative Committee on Science and Technology, The Heritage Council and the Rector and Select Vestry of St Andrew’s Church.
