Cavan family and community raise more than €20,000 for Laois based Embrace

The Laois found farm safety group Embrace Farm has received a very generous donation from the proceeds of a fundraiser in Co Cavan.

Last week the group was presented with a cheque for more than €20,8000 in Virgina which was the proceeds of the Kieran Flynn Memorial Tractor Run.

The fundraiser was held in memory of Kieran Flynn, a farm who died in July 2012 on his farm in Virginia.

The Embrace FARM Accident Ecumenical Remembrance Service will be held in the church of the Most Holy Rosary in Abbeyleix, on Sunday, June 26 at 2pm. All are very welcome.

Please contact us if you would like the name of your loved one remembered at the ceremony. or 085-7709966

In addition to this year’s service Embrace is adding a family weekend for young children who have lost either their dad or sibling in a farm accident. The purpose of this weekend is to do something fun with the kids and bring families from similar situations together in an attempt to help them connect with each other and share their stories.

Embrace FARM has no dedicated funding but has benefitted from many fundraisers organised by kind supporters.

This funding along with some very generous donations from Agribusiness is helping to finance the family weekend and Remembrance Service.

Embrace was founded by Brian Rohan and his wife Norma, from Shanahoe to provide a bereavement support group for farm families who, like them, have lost a loved one or, indeed, suffered serious injury on a farm.
