Patricia Kavanagh from Portlaoise was among the second group of people to graduate as jewellery experts in Ireland.
Patricia becomes the first person from Laois to graduate from this program. The Retail Jewellers of Ireland have teamed up with the Company of Goldsmiths to present certificates to nine graduates.
These graduates become the second group ever to be taught the correct level of knowledge and expertise around selling jewellery in Ireland.
Presenting the certificates in Dublin Castle was the Assay Master, Ana Izquierdo. Patricia was presented with a special silver medal to acknowledge her outstanding achievement in the course.
According to Ana, “Patricia put a huge amount of work into this course.
“We're delighted to present her with the special one off piece of silver. The Assay Office is delighted to team up with the RJI again for this fantastic initiative.
“We pride ourselves as being the very first type of consumer protection in Ireland.
“So it’s brilliant to be able to pass on that knowledge and professionalism to the next generation of jewellers.”
This is a Staff Training and Education Programme designed to train staff who are new to the jewellery business. It is the second group to be awarded certificates and interest in the program is growing.
