A Laois library is in need of roof repair and insulation says councillor

The library in Rathdowney is in need of updating according to Cllr John King.

Cllr King requested at the recent meeting of the Borris-in-Ossory Municipal District meeting that roof repairs, painting and insulation work be carried out at the library.

He said that the library is used by children and adults in the area and it is the responsibility of Laois County Council to upgrade it.

“The library is used now for other events, if they are going to be used it is up to us as council to have them up to standard.

“It is one of the last libraries to get a revamp. There is also no sign outside to say that it is a library,” he said.

Laois County Council said that it carried out heating improvements this year at Rathdowney Library and it said it will examine further improvements in the lights of any national grants that may become available in 2018.
