Eye of bridge almost 'closed up entirely' with silt in Laois village

A bridge in Donaghmore, Co Laois needs to be cleaned out according to Cllr Brendan Phelan.

“One eye of the bridge is almost closed up entirely with silt, it needs a small amount of maintenance work to relieve the third eye.

"We don't need any of the €3.1 million Mountmellick got, it is just a small amount of maintenance," Cllr Phelan said.

Cllr Phelan passed a notice of motion at the February Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick Municipal District meeting.

Laois County Council said it will inspect the issue and carry out cleaning as required.
