Road safety measures have been requested for a “very dangerous junction” outside Mountmellick.
The junction at Drinagh / New Mills is on a very busy road, according to Fianna Fáil Cllr Paddy Bracken.
“This is a very dangerous junction, it is blind, and it is not highlighted on this very busy road. There is a lot of heavy vehicles on that road constantly,” he said.
Cllr Bracken tabled a motion to Laois County Council to survey the junction and consider safety works, at the March meeting of the Mountmellick Borris-in-Ossory municipal district.
I acknowledge the work done when the culvert collapsed. However residents are very concerned about traffic levels,” he said.
The reply is from acting Senior executive engineer Farhan Nasiem.
“Road Design will review junction around this road for a safety scheme and will propose solution as appropriate,” he said.
