Rosenallis man celebrates 100th birthday

Alfie celebrates with family and friends

Alfred Leech (Alfie) celebrated his 100th birthday on Thursday May 10.

Alfie was born,reared and lived all his life in Shanbeg, Rosenallis  with the exception of a short spell when he worked in the UK.

He was married to Sylvia for 56 years,until she passed away in 2014. The couple had four children. Alfie now has 16 grandchildren, and one great granchild. A farmer throughout his life, Alfie's love of farming remains undimmed and he also enjoys sports, reading and television. Alfie gets out and about these days with the help of a walker. 

Alfie was honored to be presented with the Centenarian letter on behalf of the President of Ireland by Minister for Justice, Charlie Flanagan at a celebration attended by family, neighbours and friends.
