Fowl play on The Heath

RADIO equipment, home heating oil and live poultry were among the items stolen in two separate robberies in the Portlaoise area last week.

RADIO equipment, home heating oil and live poultry were among the items stolen in two separate robberies in the Portlaoise area last week.

Last Thursday, April 12, a premises was broken into at the Clonminam Business Park. The thieves stole a quantity of aluminium motor boards used for radio communication. A garda spokesperson said that a white vehicle, possibly a rigid truck, may have been used in the crime.

Also last Thursday, a woman in The Heath discovered that home heating oil had been stolen from her tank. The thieves also made off with a number of chickens from her property. Gardai have confirmed they are following a definite line of inquiry into the theft.
