The Laois Environmental Action Forum (LEAF) are hosting an information day on renewable energy, on November 9 in the Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise.
Everyone is invited to attend, to have their say and further the process of building a people’s charter on renewable energy. The day will be cafe style, round table discussions to make sure everyone has an opportunity to participate and shape what happens.
There will be a number of experts present with knowledge of different technologies and systems. They include Duncan Stewart, Brian Hurley, The Midlands Energy Agency, Noel Gavigan, Ossian Smyth, Aedin McLoughlin, Emer O’Siochru, Ian Lumley, Robert Staiger, Conor McEvoy, Dominic Dunne and more.
Theresa Carter, of LEAF, said: “There is an old saying ‘Fail to plan and plan to fail’. This rings very true for what is happening with energy in our country at the moment. Our government obviously has little or no long term, coordinated plans in place and is open to whoever wishes to come in and exploit our resources. This has led to big industries taking advantage of the situation while communities are cast aside.”
Claiming Our Future and will take place on Saturday November 9, from 11am to 5pm in the Killeshin Hotel. Doors open at 10am. It is free of charge and places are limited.
