Laois fundraising concert announced for Chips the therapy dog

Laois secondary school welcomes new puppy to class

Chips the therapy puppy has joined Dunamase College

Three local bands are joining forces to fundraise for Chips, the new therapy dog at Dunamase College in Portlaoise on Friday, April 1.

The Valves, Paper Planes and The Shades are performing at Kavanaghs Bar and Venue on the night.

Chairperson of Dunamase Parents Council, Orla Calt praised the bands and Kavanaghs for generously supporting the  fundraising drive for Chips.

"We are just doing a fundraising drive for the next two years to pay for his [Chips] training costs," she explained.

She said the dog has become a mascot for the school and his presence is of benefit to all of the children at Dunamase College. She believes Chips helps children relax, find common ground and is a great asset to the secondary school.

Ms Calt said a raffle would be held on the night and all proceeds would go towards the therapy dog's training.
