The annual parish Senior Citizens Party, organised by Borris-In-Ossory Social Services will be held on Sunday February 15 in the PE Hall at St Joseph’s National School, Borris-In-Ossory. The party will start at 12.30pm with lunch being served at 1 o’clock and this will be followed by music, song and dance. All Senior Citizens in the parish are invited to this party.


The first Gardening get together of the New Year will be held on Thursday night, February 12, at 8.00pm where they will be preparing for the Spring in the garden. Now is the time to start seeds to plant out later when the ground warms up. Everyone is most welcome so come along.


Enrolment for St. Joseph’s N.S. will take place from the 2nd to the 6th February.

Sympathy is extended to the Leahy family, Ballyreilly and Grangemore on the death of their sister the late Catherine Ita Leahy, who died suddenly on Friday, January 23 at her home in Templeogue , Dublin. Funeral Mass took place in the Church of St. Jude the Apostle, Willington to Mount Jerome Crematorium. Deeply regretted by her brothers, sisters, extended family and friends.


Sympathy is extended to Mrs Ursula Murray, Main Street, Borris in Ossory on the death of her niece the late Niamh Hickey, (née Kavanagh), Ossory Terrace, Rathdowney. Her Funeral Mass took place in the Church of The Holy Trinity, Rathdowney followed by burial in Bealady Cemetery. The late Niamh, who had suffered a long illness, is deeply regretted by her sons, daughters, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, extended family and friends.


Monday, February 2 is Candlemas Day and Candles will be blessed at 9am Mass on Monday morning.

Tuesday, February 3 is the Feast of St Blaise. There will be no morning Mass. Evening Mass will be at 7.30 pm in Borris-in-Ossory with Blessing of Throats.


Fr Robinson will give a talk to the Parents/Guardians of Confirmation Candidates on Tuesday, February 10, in Borris-in-Ossory Church at 7.30 p.m.

The Enrolment Ceremony for Confirmation Candidates and Parents/Guardians will be at 11am Mass on Sunday, February 15.

Borris in Ossory ICA guild will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 4, at 8pm. The Pilates class will not take place on the night but will resume on the following Wednesday, February 11, at 8pm


Winners of Bridge competition on December 9 were 1st Kathleen Phelan and Josephine Campion, 2nd Teresa Butler, Irene Delaney. The competition played on January 20 was won by 1st Noreen Hanrahan and Rosari Cullinane, 2nd Irene Delaney and Teresa Butler. Bridge continues each Tuesday night and new members are welcome.
