Laois property tax to pay for Dublin services claims FF council candidate

The Government has reneged on its pledge to give most of the Laois property tax back to Laois according to a Fianna Fáil local election candidate.
David Ryan, who is running in the Portlaoise/Abbeyleix area, said the Local Property Tax, which started out as a tax to go towards local services delivered by county hall, has turned into anything but a Local tax.
“Now a large amount of the money that was supposed to go to Laois County Council is going to Dublin, a complete change from the 80% we were all promised.
“This all happened after people started paying the tax that “didn’t” double in household budgets this year,” he said. *See Page 20
