The funeral will take place today (Monday, July 2) of the late Richard Booth who was one of the most prominent Laois members of IFA.
Mr Booth, who farmed on The Heath, near Portlaoise, died suddenly at his home at his home last Friday, June 29. A prominent member of the association for many years he was a former chairman of both the IFA National Livestock Committee and the EU Beef Advisory Committee.
Mr Booth specialised in beef and tillage grain and wrote regularly on beef issues in the Irish Farmers Journal.
He was also an active member of the The Heath GAA club.
Beloved husband of Mary and much loved father of Richard, Ailbhe, Anna and Ellen, Richard is also deeply regretted by his, mother-in-law Peg, brothers Gerard, Sean and Paul, sisters Catherine and Geraldine large extended family, relatives and friends.
Reposed at his home on the Heath on Sunday followed by removal on Monday to the Church of the Assumption, the Heath for Requiem mass at 2pm. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
