At this month’s Council meeting Cllr James Daly welcomed an allocation of €270,209 from Government to Laois County Council for upgrading the energy efficiency of local authority houses.
“An initial allocation of €270,209 for energy efficiency measures was announced last week and I expect this to be increased. This funding should substantially complete the first phase of the insulation programme for 2014 and ensure that every local authority house will have at a minimum draught proofing, attic insulation and where appropriate cavity wall insulation.
“I welcome this programme, which is creating warmer homes and lower bills to local authority tenants. It is supporting jobs in green energy, with many community-based organisations delivering the works.” Cllr Daly said.
