Laois County Council said it hopes to repair a wheelchair user push button at Abbeyleix Library as soon as possible.
Cllr John Joe Fennelly raised the issue at a recent meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District. He put down a motion asking: “That this Council repair the main door on Abbeyleix Library to facilitate wheelchair users as the push button system is not working”
In response, Senior Executive Engineer, Wes Wilkinson said “Laois County Council are awaiting a contractor to do the repair works and it is hoped to have the repair of the internal door completed as soon as possible.”
Cllr Fennelly said the push button has been out of order for a number of months. He said he was delighted with the response and he looked forward to the work being completed.
Seconding the motion, Cllr Barry Walsh said he was also eager to see the work carried out.
